Extraordinary Door Designs
Do you need doors for your houses? Of course, but sometime door becomes an abandoned thing in our homes. Here, Vanessa Brunner would like to share her ideas about Extraordinary door designs. There are designers have taken the idea of the door to the next level. Going beyond painting doors in bright hues, they have implemented brave designs that push the very definition of the door. As these clever products demonstrate, a door can be much more than the entrance and exit to your home — it can make a big and bold statement about the character of your home.

Kristal is a slightly spooky take on the standard glass door. Made out of tempered glass and accented with stainless steel hardware, the elegant and dark serigraphy is completely customizable

This door may look straight out of Darth Vadar’s bedroom, but it also could be a smart and innovative step towards the doors of the future. Designed by Brazilian firm No Design, this door is completely handle-less, locks and unlocks via a remote control (yes, like your car), and even lights up to tell you if you’ve correctly unlocked the door or not. With front sheets made of the same material used in bulletproof cars, there’s a good chance this door could evolve to be smarter than its owner.

Designed by fashion designer Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, the Viva Line from Modernus is the epitome of this designer’s bright and eccentric style. Shown here in a matte red lacquer with graphic die cuts, the line is available in a variety of custom colors and designs.

The concept behind the Luna: Light + Air door makes enough sense — a door with slots that open and close to allow for light and air. The slots can be adjusted, so only a certain amount of light, air, and noise moves between the exterior and the interior. While it seems amazing in theory, it’s also one of those doors that I’d love to see in practice before making an order.

For a long time, a secret passageway was on the top of my must-haves when it came to my fantasy house. For a Nancy Drew fiend such as myself, making sure my house had a little mystery of its own was an absolute necessity. These hidden bookshelf doors are a dream come true. Although the site pushes these doors as security solutions (something, to be quite honest, I hadn’t considered), they’re still the perfect way to satisfy my lust!

The Sensunels Door Collection designed by Karim Rashid is based on the concept that a door can express personality, inspire, and provoke emotion. All Sensunels door patterns, including FEND, have beautiful graphics in multiple colors sealed onto the door.

Just like interchangeable cell phone and laptop covers, the recessed panel in the Flex Door can be changed out to pretty much anything — artwork, wood veneer, glass, colored acrylic. So your door can change as often as you change your personal style!

The fantastical, playful, and childlike nature of this door is reminiscent of childhood favorites like Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Just sip the tiny bottle that says “Drink me!” and step on through the teeny tiny door — or maybe just use it as a fun entrance to your child’s room.
